Ratha Sapthami Festival on Jan 25 at Tirumala with Lord Malayappa Swamy’s Vahana Parade
January 19, 2026
The annual Ratha Sapthami festival will be celebrated at Tirumala on January 25, marking Surya Jayanthi. On this day, Lord Malayappa Swamy will parade along the four mada streets on seven different vahanas in a single day. This event is popularly called the ‘mini Brahmotsavam.’
Ratha Sapthami, also known as Magha Sapthami, falls on Shukla Paksha Sapthami in the holy month of Magha and is believed to celebrate the birth of the Sun God. It symbolizes the spread of divine knowledge.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) anticipate a large number of pilgrims. They have made thorough arrangements for crowd management and darshan.
The vahana sevas will start before dawn with Surya Prabha Vahanam. This will be followed by Chinna Sesha Vahanam, Garuda Vahanam, Hanumantha Vahanam, Kalpavriksha Vahanam, and Sarvabhoopala Vahanam. The day will end with Chandraprabha Vahanam at night.
The auspicious Chakrasnanam ritual will take place in the afternoon.
Due to the festival, TTD has cancelled all ‘arjitha sevas’ inside the temple. Pre-dawn rituals will be observed in ekantham.
The celebrations promise a colorful and spiritual spectacle for all devotees.
