Minnesota Woman Helps Far-Right Influencer Jake Lang Escape Angry Crowd, Then Abandons Him

On Saturday in Minneapolis, Jake Lang, a far-right influencer, was chased and beaten by counter-protesters. He had led a small anti-Islam, anti-Somali, and pro-ICE rally that drew hundreds of opposing protesters.
Daye Gottsche, a woman traveling with a friend, saw a man bleeding and running from a crowd at a red light. They stopped, and Lang begged to get into their car for help. They let him in without knowing who he was. Soon, a large group surrounded the car, attacked Lang, and damaged the vehicle.
Daye panicked as people tried to pull Lang out and kick him. Some others then cleared a path, allowing them to drive away. After a couple of blocks, Daye learned Lang's ideology and made him get out. "We made it very clear we do not support the type of man he is," she said.
During the ride, Lang praised US President Donald Trump and called himself "a bad boy." Daye called his comments "the cringiest thing" she had heard. Lang left the car and got into another vehicle.
Daye faced backlash for helping Lang and made a video explaining she acted out of human concern and safety, not support. "Honestly, I've kinda gotten a lot of support overall," she said. She stressed that violence is not the solution and warned, "this is what our federal government wants so they can put in place the Insurrection Act."
This event happened amid rising tensions in Minnesota. President Trump said invoking the Insurrection Act to deploy the military is an option if state leaders do not stop anti-ICE protests. Protests grew after a federal agent shot an unarmed woman earlier this month in self-defense.
