On January 19, Puttur Rural Police arrested two men transporting 106 kg of cannabis in Dakshina Kannada. Acting on a tip-off, police stopped a car and a mini goods vehicle at Sajankadi in Paduvannur village. They found 100 grams of cannabis in the car and 106 kg packed in 73 packets in the goods vehicle. The two accused were identified as P. Rafique, 37, the car driver, and Abdul Sadique, 37, the goods vehicle driver. Both live in Charmadi village, Belthangady taluk. The men admitted to police that they intended to sell the cannabis in Dakshina Kannada district in Karnataka and Kasargod district in Kerala. Police seized the cannabis, two vehicles, and two mobile phones. A case was filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The operation was led by Sub-Inspector J. Gunapala with team members Harish, Harshith, Prashanth Rai, Praveen Rai, Bhavit Rai, Nagaraj, Satish, Ramesh, Subramani, and Vinod.
