On January 20, 2026, India handed over 60 out of 650 vehicles and supplies to Nepal to help with the March 5 parliamentary elections. Dr. Rakesh Pandey, Charge d' Affaires of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, gave the first batch to Nepal's Home Minister, Om Prakash Aryal, in Kathmandu. The handover is part of the election assistance requested by Nepal. The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said these vehicles and supplies will keep arriving in separate batches. Expressing gratitude to India, Mr. Aryal praised the strong relationship between the two countries. "India's help shows the deep and comprehensive ties between Nepal and India," he said. This is the first set of election assistance. India will deliver the remaining vehicles over the next few weeks to fully support Nepal's upcoming elections.
