Aldi's Cheapest Stain Remover Spray Tops Choice Test, Matches Premium Brands
January 21, 2026
Consumer group Choice tested 43 stain removal products, including 23 powders and 20 sprays, on stains like sweat, grass, mud, oil, chocolate, tomato, baby food, blood, and makeup. Aldi’s Di-San Pro Ultra Degreaser With Enzymes spray scored 78%, tying first place with the Sard Super Power Stain Remover Toughest Stains. Both sprays cleaned sweat, olive oil, baby food, and grime well, but Sard was better on blood stains. Aldi’s spray costs just 28 cents per 100ml ($2.09 per bottle), much cheaper than Sard at $1.90 per 100ml ($8 a bottle). Choice senior product officer Chris Barnes said, “If you’re on a budget it’s hard to justify why you’ll spend so much on a Sard spray when you could get an Aldi one which is just as good.” Other budget sprays like Aldi Di-San Pro Oxy With Enzymes, Coles Ultra Pre-wash, and Woolworths Clean Ultimate also scored above 70% and cost around $2.10. Among powders, brand names performed better. Sard and Vanish led with scores of 76%, 75%, and 73%. Choice tested the products by treating standard stain-stained fabric swatches. Measurements with a spectrometer showed how much stain was removed, making the results precise. Barnes advised pre-soaker powders for full garment cleaning, such as sports clothes, and sprays for spot treatments like dirty collars or small spills. This test shows you don't have to spend big to get effective stain removal.
