Kerala Police have issued a lookout circular for Shimjitha Musthafa, who faces abetment charges related to the unnatural death of U. Deepak from Kozhikode. Ms. Musthafa, 35, has been missing since the incident. A video she reportedly shot, accusing Deepak of sexual harassment during a bus journey, surfaced on social media. The police have registered her under Section 109 (abetment to suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Deepak, aged 41, was found dead at his home near Govindapuram, Kozhikode city, on January 18. The alleged video was captured on January 16 in Kannur district. Police stated that the video appears to have been edited before it was uploaded. They also recorded statements from Deepak's parents and bus workers who were present during the incident. The search for Shimjitha has been intensified across neighboring states to prevent her from fleeing, especially through airports. Shimjitha has filed an anticipatory bail plea at the Kozhikode Principal Session’s Court. Her social media accounts linked to the video have been deactivated following the incident. In a related development, YouTuber Rahul Easwar, founder of the 'Men’s Commission,' visited Deepak’s family and gave ₹3.17 lakh as initial aid. He announced the launch of a 24x7 men’s helpline to support men facing mental and physical harassment. Easwar also declared January 17 as 'Men’s Rights Day' nationwide, marking the date of Deepak’s death and his mental suffering.
