Kempegowda Airport Unveils Gate Z: A Trendy Gen Z Social Lounge
January 21, 2026
Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru has launched Gate Z, a first-of-its-kind Gen Z-inspired social lounge. Located next to the 080 International Lounge in Terminal 2, Gate Z offers a variety of spots including Bubble & Brew, a café-bar; The Sipping Lounge; Subway Diner, a retro-style eatery with live counters; and The Amphizone, a modern amphitheatre for screenings and gatherings. The name Gate Z came from a nationwide contest inviting young creatives to help shape the space. Entries came from students, designers, and professionals across India. George Bennet Kuruvilla, CEO of Bangalore Airport Services Limited, said, "Gate Z reflects BLR Airport’s intent to design spaces that respond to how travel is experienced today, as part of a broader lifestyle rather than a moment in transit." He added, "By inviting young Indians to name Gate Z, we extended this philosophy of co-creation, ensuring the space is shaped by the mindset it represents, and remains relevant, expressive and people-first." The lounge features smooth pathways, social zones, and layouts that balance interaction and relaxation. Curved seating, soft lighting, and interactive areas support working, socializing, or quiet breaks. The design blends global styles with local touches in food, art, and decor. A warm mix of cyan and burnt orange colors, streetlamp-inspired lights, and sustainable materials create a modern, welcoming look. AI-led features help with easy navigation, personalization, and improving passenger convenience. Gate Z brings a fresh, fun vibe to how travelers experience the Bangalore airport.
