SP Leads Helmet Rally in Dharmavaram After 555 Road Accidents in District
January 21, 2026
Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar led a bike rally on helmet awareness in Dharmavaram, Sri Sathya Sai district, on Wednesday. The Police and Road Transport departments organised the event together. The SP revealed the district had 555 road accidents in 2025. Two-wheelers caused 190 of these accidents, resulting in 120 deaths.
He said, "The absence of helmets is the single most significant factor behind avoidable deaths in two-wheeler accidents." The SP urged riders to wear helmets for their and their families' safety. He warned against drunk driving, using phones while riding, and letting minors drive two-wheelers or cars. "Such negligence can destroy entire families," he added.
Mr. Satish Kumar said police will increase awareness campaigns before strictly enforcing helmet rules. The 4km rally passed through main roads in Dharmavaram and included District Transport Officer Karuna Sagar Reddy, Deputy SP Hemanth Kumar, and senior officials.
