Contract Worker Electrocuted on Electric Pole in Hyderabad's Jeedimetla

A 29-year-old contract worker, Shanmukha Rao, died on Wednesday after being electrocuted while working on an electric pole in Jeedimetla, Hyderabad. Rao, from Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh, had moved to Hyderabad with his wife Kavya and their two children seeking work. The family lived in Moosapet, where Rao worked as a labourer for an electrical contractor named Saibaba. According to sources, Rao was performing routine maintenance on an electric pole near Vennelagadda when he received an electric shock and fell. He died instantly at the spot. Fellow workers and relatives accused the contractor of negligence, saying proper safety measures were missing at the site. Police arrived promptly and took the body for a postmortem examination. A case has been filed, and investigation is ongoing.
