KIA Staff Arrested for Sexual Harassment of Korean Businesswoman at Bengaluru Airport
January 22, 2026
Bengaluru police have arrested Mohammed Affaan Ahmed, a 25-year-old ground staff member at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), for allegedly sexually harassing a Korean businesswoman. Ahmed, who works for a private company providing ground handling services at KIA, stopped the victim near Terminal 2 on January 19. He told her there was an issue with her luggage and claimed she needed a separate frisking. Ahmed took her close to the men’s washroom and touched her inappropriately, despite her protests. The victim reported the incident to airport authorities, who detained Ahmed and handed him over to the police. "We have reviewed the CCTV footage, which shows him taking the victim to a secluded area," said a police investigator. Ahmed had no authority to conduct extra checks but did so regardless. He has been charged under the relevant sexual harassment section of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Ahmed has been working at KIA for the past one and a half years. A Bengaluru court has remanded him to judicial custody. The accused did not deny the incident during police questioning.
