India strongly condemned the trespassing and vandalism at its embassy in Zagreb, Croatia, by Khalistani elements on January 22, 2026. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said it has raised the issue firmly with Croatian authorities in both New Delhi and Zagreb. The MEA called the actions "reprehensible and illegal" and demanded the perpetrators be held accountable. The incident occurred just days before the India-EU summit in New Delhi. The MEA highlighted that under the Vienna Convention, diplomatic premises must be protected and are inviolable. The attackers brought down the Indian flag at the embassy, a move strongly condemned by India. The MEA said, "Such actions also speak of the character and motives of those behind them, and law enforcement authorities everywhere would do well to take note of them."
