UAE Braces for Light Rain and Rising Humidity Starting January 23, 2026
January 23, 2026
The UAE will experience a change in weather from Friday, January 23, 2026. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) says a weak low-pressure system is moving in from the east. Today, skies are mostly clear to partly cloudy, but clouds will grow. This will bring more humid and unpredictable winter conditions. No strong storms are expected, but some light rain is likely, especially along the coast and northern areas this weekend.
Temperatures differ by region. Coastal cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi will see highs between 19°C and 24°C. Inland areas might reach 25°C. Mountain regions will be cooler, with daytime highs near 16°C and nights falling to 5°C-9°C. Jebel Jais recorded a chilly low of 0.2°C recently.
Light showers could appear mainly in northern emirates and coastal zones. Recent days have seen mild rain and small temperature dips. This means any rain over the weekend will be gentle, not heavy, possibly interrupting outdoor plans briefly.
Rising humidity overnight and into Saturday morning is expected, especially westward. This may cause morning mist or fog, reducing visibility on roads like the E11 and E311 highways. The NCM advises drivers to check weather alerts and drive carefully. Anyone camping in the desert should prepare for damp conditions.
Winds will blow up to 35 km/h, adding a crisp feel to the air. The Arabian Gulf seas are calm to moderate. The upcoming weather marks a typical UAE winter moment, with clouds, light rain, and cooler air perfect for outdoor gatherings and enjoying Karak tea.
Residents are reminded to stay safe and enjoy the rare rainy days in the desert.
