Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney Questioned Over Indian Investors and H-1B Fraud Allegations
January 24, 2026
In Frisco, Texas, a council meeting turned intense when resident Marc Palasciano challenged Mayor Jeff Cheney about Indian investors and H-1B visa fraud. Marc called himself a whistleblower and drew attention to the "Indian takeover in Frisco," saying the Indian population rose from 2% to 33% in 20 years—an increase of 4,510%. Marc also noted donation patterns: "In 2021, 10% of donations above $1,000 were from people with Indian last names. In 2023, it's 55%, a 450% increase." He questioned why four top donors, all Indian, didn't live in Frisco or Collin County but still donated $5,000 each. "I don’t understand why someone would donate to a mayor who doesn’t represent them, unless that mayor represents business interests that make them money," Marc said. He added that many involved were in real estate businesses, with donors having over 158 companies registered across them. Marc also questioned Burt Thakur, the city's first Indian-origin councilman, about his ties to a consulting firm led by someone convicted of fraud. He questioned: "Why is one of your biggest donors an Indian in the North Texas real estate business who doesn’t live in Frisco? Why does one donor have 23 H-1B companies at one address?" He concluded, "We’ll see if your constituents or any news outlets apply pressure and force you guys to answer these questions." This came amid heated debates on Indians in Texas after attorney Aaron Reitz criticized Indian voters in the Attorney General race.
