Indore Sets Up 2 Temporary Hospitals After Water Contamination Hits Mhow Area
January 24, 2026
The Indore administration in Madhya Pradesh has taken quick action as water contamination causes illness in Mhow's Patti Bazaar area. Twelve survey teams are working and two temporary hospitals have been set up to treat affected people. Officials detected at least 12 suspected cases of stomach infections on January 23, with locals claiming about 24 people fell ill. This move follows seven deaths last month in Bhagirathpura linked to contaminated water. Collector Shivam Verma ordered the deployment of 12 teams who surveyed over 80 households in the 2,500-strong community. Eight patients are being treated in hospitals, while two have recovered and been discharged. Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Madhav Prasad Hasani said officials are collecting blood and water samples for testing. Local paediatricians and child specialists are involved in the response. Public announcements advise residents to drink boiled water and avoid outside food. The administration is distributing ORS, glucose, zinc, and chlorine tablets to help prevent further illness. Last month’s outbreak in Bhagirathpura resulted in seven deaths, including a five-month-old baby, though residents claim the toll is higher. Authorities continue their efforts to control the public health crisis in Indore.
