Murder Convicts in Jaipur Jail to Marry After Getting Parole
January 24, 2026
Two high-profile murder convicts in Jaipur's open-air prison will marry on Friday, January 23, 2026, after winning 15-day parole. Priya Seth, 34, jailed for killing a man she trapped on a dating app, and Hanuman Prasad, 29, convicted for killing a man and his children in a plot with the victim's wife, fell in love while serving life sentences at Sanganer open jail.
The Rajasthan High Court ordered a parole committee to decide on their applications within seven days on January 7. Their counsel, Vishram Prajapat, said, "Acting on the court's order, the committee cleared their release, allowing the pair to step out of prison on Wednesday [January 28, 2026]."
The wedding will take place in Barodameo, Alwar district, Prasad's hometown. The convicts grew close over the past year, living under Rajasthan Prisoners Open Air Camp Rules, 1972. This system lets inmates work outside during the day and return by evening.
Seth was sentenced to life in 2023 for the 2018 murder of Dushyant Sharma, whose body was found in a suitcase. Prasad was also convicted in 2023 for the 2017 killing of a man, his three sons, and nephew in Alwar, involving a conspiracy with Santosh Sharma, the victims' wife.
The parole decision faces opposition. Sandeep Loharia, lawyer for Dushyant Sharma's family, said, "We were not informed even after parole was granted. We will move the high court against the decision."
Prison officials say the parole follows all rules. A six-member committee checks eligibility for parole and rehabilitation under the open-air camp system.
