Private Jet Crashes at Maine Airport, Killing 7 Amid Snowstorm
January 27, 2026
Seven people died and one crew member was seriously hurt when a private jet crashed while taking off at Bangor International Airport in Maine on Sunday night. The Bombardier Challenger 600 tried to take off around 7:45 pm local time during a heavy winter storm. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed the plane, carrying eight people, crashed amid freezing snow and ice. The jet was connected to Houston law firm Arnold & Itkin. The plane is registered to KTKJ Challenger LLC, sharing an address with Arnold & Itkin in Houston, Texas. One of the law firm’s founding partners is listed as the registered agent for the company that owns the jet. Investigative reporter Steve Robinson posted on X that the plane belonged to "top anti‑ICE / anti‑Trump lawyers who defended illegal aliens" and that all passengers were presumed dead. He named attorneys Jason Itkin and Kurt Arnold, known for representing immigrants in Texas. Robinson also alleged the firms made political donations to a PAC campaigning against Republican candidates in 2024. These claims have not been independently verified. The storm caused dangerous travel conditions, canceling thousands of flights and blocking roads. Airport director Jose Saavedra said authorities were waiting for federal guidance and could not comment on the victims' identities. Audio from air traffic controllers includes the words "Aircraft upside down" shortly after takeoff. Witnesses also said the plane was inverted on the runway. Arnold & Itkin is known in legal circles for major personal injury lawsuits. One of its founding partners is tied to the jet's ownership.
