Several schools in Chandigarh were evacuated on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, after receiving bomb threat emails, police said. School authorities alerted the police about the emails in the morning. Policemen arrived at the schools and conducted thorough searches. At least five schools, including private ones, got these threat emails. Bomb disposal units and sniffer dog squads were called to the sites to check for explosives. Students and staff were safely evacuated, and extra security was put in place around the schools. Students heading to school were sent back home. Police confirmed that the alert followed recent similar bomb threat emails targeting schools in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala in Punjab, and Ambala in Haryana.
