Govindpura police have arrested two men linked to a major car theft racket. They recovered nine cars and one two-wheeler valued at ₹2.31 crore. The case began with a complaint on January 4 in Bengaluru's Govindpura police station about a stolen two-wheeler.
On January 5, police caught Syed Nizam, 37, a car dealer from Pulakeshi Nagar, near an Indira Canteen with the stolen two-wheeler. He admitted to stealing vehicles and selling them with an associate based in Delhi. He was sent to police custody for 19 days.
After further questions, police arrested the second accused Mohammed Muzaffar, 26, from Delhi, on January 14 in Hyderabad, Telangana. The nine recovered cars were found in places such as HBR Layout, Ravindra Garden, and vacant plots near homes.
The accused confessed to stealing luxury cars in Delhi, driving them to Bengaluru, and selling them in Hyderabad using forged papers. Police said the duo handled vehicle theft across states, targeting Bengaluru and selling through interstate networks.
Investigations continue to find more people linked to this growing car theft racket.
