BJP members in Karnataka Assembly raised concerns on Wednesday about the quality of toor dal supplied for the midday meal scheme in government and aided schools. BJP member B. Suresh Gowda pointed out the poor quality of meals at Karnataka Public School in Tumakuru Rural. He said the contractor won the tender by quoting ₹63 per kg, far below the market price of ₹93. "Either the contractor would have to supply inferior quality toor dal or cut the quantum of supply," said Gowda. He questioned whether quality toor dal could be provided at such low prices. School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa responded by assuring strict action against suppliers if any quality issues or complaints arise.
