One anonymous spokesperson told USA Today, "We knew we had to go viral to get attention." The chaos kicked off on July 29 during a game between the Atlanta Dream and the Golden State Valkyries when the first sex toy landed on the court. Since then, fans witnessed more shocking incidents, including one in Phoenix where a thrown toy hit a fan sitting with his young niece. Despite the group’s claims, WNBA players and coaches have strongly condemned the acts, calling them "dangerous, misogynistic, and disrespectful." The drama even followed during a recent Atlanta Dream vs. Chicago Sky game, with another sex toy thrown during the final moments. While the memecoin crowd owns up to stirring this mess, they deny being behind arrests made. Delbert Carter in Atlanta and Kaden Lopez in Phoenix were arrested for throwing the objects, but neither belonged to the crypto group. Lopez admitted he saw the viral trend online and joined in on his own. The group promises that their future stunts will be "more tasteful," but the WNBA isn’t taking chances.
