Government Acts Against 4,000+ for Jal Jeevan Mission Irregularities Across India

The government has taken action against over 4,000 people across India for irregularities in the Jal Jeevan Mission, Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil informed the Lok Sabha on January 29, 2026. He said teams were formed to investigate complaints around poor work quality, financial irregularities, and inadequate water supply. These investigation reports were shared with the States. "Primarily, the complaints were lodged for poor quality of work, financial irregularities and inadequate water supply," Mr. Patil said. He added that grants for the mission are given to State Governments. The States then issue tenders, prepare project reports, and share compliance details with the Ministry. This move highlights the government's effort to maintain transparency and quality in ensuring water access under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
