Eluru Collector Orders Reactivation of Dormant Government Bank Accounts
January 29, 2026
Eluru District Collector K. Vetri Selvi on Thursday (January 29) asked officials to reactivate unused bank accounts held by government departments. She reviewed the details of these accounts in a teleconference from the Collectorate. Officials were told to give information on each account, including why it was opened, the amount of money sitting unused, and reasons for non-use.
Ms. Vetri Selvi said many government departments keep several bank accounts to handle funds for various schemes. While some accounts are active, many remain unused or dormant. This causes problems and inefficiency in managing government money. She emphasized, "There is a need to identify such unused accounts and take immediate steps to restore them to operational status."
The Collector’s order aims to make sure idle funds are put to good use and government schemes get smooth funding. Joint Collector M.J. Abhishek Gowda, District Revenue Officer V. Visweswara Rao, Zilla Parishad CEO Srihari, and others attended the teleconference.
