Delhi HC: No Stay on Sexual Harassment Case Against Ex-BJP MP Brij Bhushan Singh
January 29, 2026
The Delhi High Court on January 29, 2026, said there was no stay on the ongoing sexual harassment case against former BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma made this observation while noting Singh's repeated requests for delays during his petition to quash the case. Although Singh's application was filed in August 2024, no arguments have been presented yet. The case started after six women wrestlers accused Singh of sexual harassment and protested, leading the Supreme Court to direct the Delhi Police to register an FIR. Police investigation ended with a chargesheet in 2023, accusing Singh of outraging modesty, making sexually colored remarks, stalking, and criminal intimidation. On January 29, Singh requested an adjournment due to the absence of a senior lawyer. The court clarified that the proceedings continue without any stay and adjourned the hearing to April 21.
