Police Seize 15kg Ganja from Passengers on Ernakulam Express at Ongole Station

On Saturday, police seized 15kg of ganja from two passengers traveling on the Ernakulam Express (Train no. 18189) at Ongole railway station. The accused are Prithvi Raj Baag from Ambadar village, Rayagada district, Odisha, and V. Jagadish from Mettur village, Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu. Extensive checks by the women’s police station, Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE), Government Railway Police (GRP), and Railway Protection Force (RPF) teams took place under the supervision of Prakasam District Superintendent of Police V. Harshavardhan Raju. Using police dog Roxy, officers inspected suspicious parcels, bags, and items from Ongole to Kavali. They found and seized the 15kg of ganja from the passengers’ bags. Both accused were taken into custody and handed over to GRP officials for further investigation. SP Harshavardhan Raju warned, "Legal action will be taken against those who transport, sell or use ganja or other intoxicants." He also urged the public to report drug peddling by calling the toll-free number 1972, dialing 112, or messaging the police WhatsApp number 9121102266, assuring confidentiality for informants.
