In Mico Layout, a 65-year-old woman was allegedly strangled to death at her residence early Saturday. Police found the male domestic help dead by suicide at the same house. The incident reportedly took place around midnight. The situation came to light at 4:30 a.m. when the victim’s husband returned from Dubai and rang the doorbell. Their 27-year-old daughter opened the door and went back to her room upstairs. The husband then went to his wife’s room and found her dead. Police suspect the 50-year-old domestic help, Devaraju, who worked at the house, may have murdered the woman before dying by suicide. However, investigators are exploring all possibilities, including the involvement of a third party. Mico Layout police conducted an initial inspection. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory performed a detailed examination of the premises. Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem exams. A murder case has been registered, and family members have given statements. East Zone Joint Commissioner of Police Ramesh Banoth said, "Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events."
