₹1,200 Crore Allocated for Phase-III of e-Courts Project in Union Budget 2026-27

The Law Ministry has been allocated ₹1,200 crore in the Union Budget 2026-27 for phase-III of the ambitious e-Courts project. This phase aims to digitise all subordinate courts in India. The budget estimate was ₹1,500 crore, but the final allocation stands at ₹1,200 crore. In September 2023, the Union Cabinet approved phase-III as a central sector scheme with a total financial outlay of ₹7,210 crore over four years. The e-Courts project is part of the National e-Governance Plan and started in 2007 to enable Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Indian Judiciary. Phase II of this initiative was completed in 2023.
