Mysore Industries Association Hails Union Budget 2026 Boost for MSMEs and Semiconductors
February 1, 2026
The Mysore Industries Association (MIA) has welcomed the Union Budget 2026 announced by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. MIA described it as a “development-oriented Budget” with special focus on micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). In a press release on February 1, MIA president P. Vishwanath and general secretary Suresh Kumar Jain said the Budget gives a big push to the semiconductor sector with ₹40,000 crore allocated.
They pointed out the new Container Manufacturing Scheme, which aims to build a global container manufacturing ecosystem with ₹10,000 crore set aside for five years. The Budget also plans mega textile parks under the National Textile Policy to strengthen textiles.
MIA welcomed policies for upgrading manufacturing related to construction and infrastructure equipment. The plan to upgrade 200 industrial hubs will include identifying and promoting "Champion SMEs." They suggested Mysuru Hebbal Special Investment Region, covering 6,500 acres, be part of this.
A special MSME/Small Industries Development Fund of ₹10,000 crore will be set up to nurture future industrial leaders. A high-level committee will also promote employment and entrepreneurship through education and skills development.
MIA also backed the decision for high-speed trains connecting Bengaluru to Hyderabad and Chennai. They praised the Scheme for Enhancement of Construction and Infrastructure Equipment (CIE) to boost local production of advanced equipment like lifts, fire-fighting gear, tunnel-boring machines for metro rails, and high-altitude road tools.
The Mysore Industries Association expressed strong support for these initiatives, seeing them as a big step forward for industry and the economy.
