KPop Demon Hunters' Golden Becomes First K-Pop Song to Win Grammy Award
February 2, 2026
The song Golden from the Netflix hit movie KPop Demon Hunters won a Grammy Award, making it the first-ever K-pop song to win this prestigious prize. It won Best Song for Visual Media at the early Grammy ceremony in Los Angeles. Golden, performed by the fictional band Huntr/x, is also nominated for Song of the Year.
Other early winners include British artists Yungblud, The Cure, and FKA Twigs. The Dalai Lama won Best Audiobook, and eight-year-old Aura V became the youngest Grammy winner for Best Children's Album. Kendrick Lamar won three early awards, including Best Rap Song for TV Off, which boosts his chances for Album of the Year.
This year, Kendrick Lamar faces tough competition from stars like Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny. Bad Bunny’s album Debí Tirar Más Fotos is the first Spanish-language record expected to win Album of the Year.
KPop Demon Hunters was released in June and became Netflix’s most-watched movie ever, with over 480 million views. Its soundtrack topped Billboard charts, becoming the first since Disney’s Encanto in 2022.
Blackpink singer Rosé is also nominated for three awards for her song APT. The Recording Academy recently added K-pop artists like Seventeen's Woozi, Enhypen’s Jungwon, and Le Sserafim's Huh Yunjin to its voting members.
At the early ceremony, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande won Best Pop Duo or Group Performance for their Wicked duet Defying Gravity. Yungblud took Best Rock Performance for a live Black Sabbath cover, moving Ozzy Osbourne's wife Sharon to tears.
The Cure won their first Grammys for Best Alternative Album and Recording. FKA Twigs received Best Dance/Electronic Album for Eusexua. Singer Kehlani won two R&B awards for Folded and spoke out against political unrest.
Legend Joni Mitchell won Best Historical Recording and gave a lively speech. The Southern horror film Sinners won Best Soundtrack and Best Score after earning 16 Oscar nominations.
The main Grammy ceremony kicks off later from Los Angeles, with top stars competing for the night’s biggest honors.
