Dubai RTA Opens 82nd Online Auction for 300 Premium Vehicle Number Plates from Feb 9
February 3, 2026
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is launching its 82nd online auction of premium vehicle number plates. This seven-day event starts on February 9, 2026, giving residents a chance to buy some of the city’s most unique plates. The auction features 300 plates with 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-digit combinations, suitable for private cars, classic vehicles, and motorcycles. Plates include letter codes from H to Z, providing many choices for bidders.
Registration opened on February 2, 2026. To participate, residents must hold an active traffic file in Dubai. They need to pay a Dh5,000 security cheque plus a Dh120 non-refundable registration fee. Registration can be done online or in person at RTA Customer Happiness Centres.
The auction will last seven days, and winners must complete payments within 10 working days after it closes. Payments up to Dh50,000 can be made in cash; larger amounts must be via manager’s cheque or credit card. All sales include 5% VAT.
Dubai’s premium plates carry value beyond identification. They represent status, personal style, and investment. Short and memorable numbers often fetch millions of dirhams. For example, the plate AA17 sold for over Dh8 million in a past auction. These plates can also boost a vehicle’s appearance and start conversations among collectors.
The 82nd auction offers a wide variety of plates. Bidders can choose classic, simple numbers, lucky digits, initials, or combinations with collector appeal. The online format makes bidding easy for locals and those abroad.
People from many backgrounds participate—from daily drivers to investors. Four-digit and three-digit numbers usually keep their value well and can be sold through private deals later. Winning a premium plate is often a proud moment and can show years of success in Dubai.
Past auctions demonstrated strong interest and record sales. Total revenues reached over Dh69 million in one event, showing heavy demand for rare plates. Experts expect fierce bidding again in 2026.
Prospective bidders are advised to register early, set a budget including VAT and security cheque, research plate values, and use the convenient online system to take part.
Dubai’s RTA continues to celebrate car culture and individuality with this marquee auction. Don’t miss your chance to own a unique number plate starting February 9, 2026.
