US-Europe to Act Militarily If Russia Breaks Ukraine Ceasefire Again, Says Report
February 3, 2026
Ukraine and its Western allies, including the US and European countries, have agreed on a plan for fast, coordinated military action if Russia breaks any future ceasefire. Sources told the Financial Times that this plan spans three stages. First, a diplomatic warning would come within a day of a ceasefire breach, followed by Ukrainian troops acting to stop the violation. If fighting continues, over 20 allies forming the 'coalition of the willing' would step in with security guarantees for Ukraine. Finally, if a full attack unfolds within three days, a coordinated military response led by the US military would be triggered. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed that the UK and France are ready to send troops to Ukraine "in the event of a peace deal" with Russia. Talks involving Russia, Ukraine, and the US on ending the war—a plan drafted by the US—will resume Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced. Meanwhile, Russian forces launched new attacks on Kyiv, Kharkiv, and other cities early Monday, causing fires, damage to energy infrastructure, and injuring at least four people. The situation remains tense as diplomatic efforts continue and fighting persists.
