Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has warned it will start a hunger strike against the Belagavi Urban Development Authority (BUDA). The reason: delays in approving new housing layout proposals in Belagavi city and nearby areas. AAP leader Vijayakumar Patil told reporters on Monday that no new layouts have been formed or approved by the State government for over 20 years. "This is pushing up land rates and making it impossible for the middle class to build houses in the city. This cannot be tolerated," he said. Patil accused officers of being lethargic, inefficient, and corrupt. "We have complained several times, but in vain. We will sit on dharna in front of BUDA office," he warned. He also suspected that some political leaders and vested interests are behind the delay. AAP leaders like Shakeel Mulla and Rizwan Pasha were present during the statement.
