The Connemara Public Library in Egmore has been transformed into an exciting science park with STEM activities. Visitors can explore a gyroscope, a large periodic table, and a touchscreen showing human anatomy. This new attraction is inside the Government Museum campus, in the restored art-deco building that cost ₹4.58 crore. The School Education Department and Public Works Department used the space well to add new sections. These include an own-book reading area, where visitors bring their books, and a quiet civil service section for exam preparation. College student Aravindan said, "I liked the ambience." Children enjoy a colorful kids' book section and can learn about fibre optic cables, language pronunciation, and mind puzzles at the science park. "The human anatomy exhibit is a huge hit with the children," said a staff member. The building also has a new conference hall, elevator, and fresh toilets. The heritage section at the back holds rare government and census records, drawing researchers. History student D. Sweetie found rare books for her thesis on Christian Missionaries in Madras. She said, "I am only afraid I might damage the book by turning the pages. This section has so many rare books." Additional Chief Secretary B. Chandra Mohan said, "This iconic heritage library has been thoughtfully reimagined as a vibrant centre of learning and discovery for every kind of reader." He added that schoolchildren, students, and civil service aspirants are visiting more. "With the new STEM section fostering scientific temper and curiosity, the library today stands transformed into a true hub of learning, discovery, and intellectual growth," he said.
