Two week-long Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) are underway in Vijayapura colleges focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging tech. On February 2, BLDE PG Halkatti College of Engineering launched an FDP on ‘Integrating AI & Telemonitoring: Innovations in Smart Healthcare’. Sponsored by AICTE, the event featured Google Cloud Architect Vijayakumar Jangamashetty as chief guest. Principal Manjunath P., Vice-Principals Leena Ragha and P. V. Malaji highlighted the programme's importance. Faculty from Vijayapura, Solapur, Belagavi, Hassan, and Chikkodi participated. On February 9, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in partnership with VGST, started a week-long FDP on ‘Hands-on Approach for Role of AI and Power Electronics in Evolution of Electric Vehicle Technology’. This programme aims to close the gap between academics and industry needs in the electric vehicle field. It equips faculty with practical knowledge on AI integration, power conversion, battery life optimization, and fuel efficiency. Vishwas Dinni, Director at Sandcom Electronics, Bengaluru, underscored the value of industry-academia collaboration in boosting teaching and research. Topics covered include AI-powered batteries, power electronics for EVs, and simulations with MATLAB, Simulink, and Python. Key faculty like Head of Department A. S. Jadhav, Vice Principal Leena Ragha, and others were present in both programmes.
