The Kozhikode sessions court on Wednesday delayed its decision on the bail plea of Shimjitha Musthafa. She is accused of abetting the unnatural death of U. Deepak from Govindapuram. Judge Bindu Kumari said the order will come on Friday, February 6, 2025. This happened after the police filed a custody request at the Kunnamangalam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. Earlier, the Kunnamangalam court denied her bail. The prosecution said granting bail could harm the ongoing investigation. They added the probe was at a critical stage. On Thursday, the Kunnamangalam court will decide on the police custody demand. Police said if custody is granted, Shimjitha Will be taken to Kannur. There, they plan to collect evidence from the bus where she and Deepak traveled together. Deepak was found dead at his home near Govindapuram in Kozhikode city on January 18. Police say a video showing sexual harassment was recorded by Shimjitha during a bus journey in Kannur district on January 16.
