The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) seized ₹4 lakh worth of unlicensed patient monitoring devices in Hyderabad. The devices, called ‘Patient Monitor (EYVA – Electronic Medical Device)’, claim to track vital human parameters but were made and sold without a license. The raid happened on February 3, 2026, at Bluesemi Research and Development Private Limited, Raidurg area, by DCA officials and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) Hyderabad Zone. They found devices, user manuals, and sales invoices at the site. Officials said further investigation is ongoing and warned, “Manufacturing medical devices without a valid licence is a punishable offence under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, carrying imprisonment of up to 5 years.” The DCA reminded that under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and Medical Devices Rules, 2017, devices in Risk Class A or B must be made under a valid licence Form MD-5 issued by Telangana DCA. Such devices must also meet Quality Management System norms in the Medical Devices Rules’ Fifth Schedule and product standards.
