Greater Bengaluru Authority to Showcase Citizen-Backed Public Space Projects in Two-Day Open House
February 4, 2026
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) will host a two-day Open House on February 6 and 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Town Hall. This event aims to showcase public space projects identified by citizens and encourage their adoption and funding by Bengaluru's five city corporations and external partners.
The Open House is part of the city initiative called “Bayasidante Bayalu,” launched in May 2025. The initiative seeks to transform Bengaluru’s underused public spaces and busy roads into inclusive, citizen-friendly areas. Residents were invited to nominate neglected or unused spots in their local areas for improvement.
Officials reported a large response, with over 250 nominations from across the city. After screening, 194 locations were confirmed feasible and added to the city’s public repository.
Data from the GBA shows the distribution of these sites across Bengaluru’s corporations: Central City Corporation has 43 locations, South City Corporation 50, North City Corporation 49, West City Corporation 31, and East City Corporation 21.
This event will give a platform to push these citizen-led projects forward and bring more life to Bengaluru’s public spaces.
