On February 6, CPI(M) Kannur district secretary K.K. Ragesh spoke at a press conference. He condemned the release of a book by V. Kunhikrishnan, who was expelled from the party for alleging embezzlement of the martyr’s fund. Ragesh claimed the book launch was used by anti-CPI(M) forces under the guise of a Left event. He said many participants attended labeled "Left," but the programme aimed against the CPI(M). Ragesh criticized a speech by Joseph C. Mathew at the event, saying it was like that of a "former CPI(M) leader," and insisted the party did not need his advice. He said, "Anyone with basic common sense can understand the intention behind organising such a programme." Further, Ragesh alleged the book was a personal attack on MLA T.I. Madhusoodanan. He denied any fund diversion or financial loss by the party. According to him, all financial figures cited in the book were incorrect. The CPI(M) stands firm against these charges and rejects the allegations as false.
