February 7, 2026
A Forest Department employee, Ankush Sudham, 57, was found dead in his official quarters near the forest office in Bhalki town, Bidar district, on Friday morning. Police suspect it to be a suicide case. Sudham was a forest watcher from Bolegaon village in Bhalki taluk. He was found hanging at his residence. Former Union Minister Bhagwanth Khuba called for a thorough investigation. He pointed out that the incident happened in the area represented by Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre. Mr. Khuba wrote on his official Facebook account, "Pressure from the Minister had driven the employee to end his life." He also alleged that forest officials were trying to protect the guilty by making false claims about the deceased. Khuba demanded a full probe and asked for Mr. Khandre's resignation until the investigation is over. For those in distress or with suicidal thoughts, Arogya Sahayavani 104 offers help and counselling.
