On Friday, India successfully test-fired its Agni-3 ballistic missile from Chandipur off the Odisha coast. The missile can carry nuclear warheads and strike targets over 3,000 kilometres away. The launch was carried out by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) during a routine training exercise using a random missile from the production lot. "The missile took off on a designated flight path and homed onto the pre-designated target area in the Bay of Bengal with accuracy," officials said. DRDO confirmed that all mission objectives were met. The 17-meter long, two-stage solid-propellant missile was tracked in real time by radars along the east coast and monitoring systems on two ships near the impact point. Agni-3 is known for its sophistication and precision and has already been inducted into India’s armed forces. It can carry a payload of up to 1.5 tons to its target. This test validates all operational and technical parameters of the missile system. The successful launch strengthens India’s strategic strike capabilities.
