Cambodian Scam Compound Exposed: Victim Details, Scripts Uncovered Amid Cyber Gang Raids
February 7, 2026
A Cambodian compound near the Thai border, designed with rooms mimicking Singaporean and Australian police offices, was discovered abandoned and full of stolen information. Documents found included profiles of a 73-year-old Japanese retiree with his phone number and bank balance, and an American woman who was a domestic abuse victim. Scammers used scripts to run love scams and fake police impersonations. One room even resembled a Vietnamese bank office.
This site, called Royal Hill, was bombed and taken over by the Thai military after a border conflict in December. Police raids and air strikes have forced many scam gangs, mostly Chinese criminal groups partly staffed by trafficking victims, to leave dozens of such scam compounds across Cambodia.
These fraud factories have played a huge role in stealing billions of dollars globally. The recent military crackdown gives a rare look inside how these cyber gangs operate on an industrial scale. The Thai military’s raid on Royal Hill provides new insight into the global reach of these cybercrime networks.
