Thiruvananthapuram International Airport reached its highest monthly passenger traffic ever in January. The airport managed 4,50,090 passengers during the month. Daily average passengers went beyond 15,000, showing strong growth. International traffic hit a record 2,27,275 passengers. Domestic travelers numbered 2,22,815. The airport also recorded 2,751 Air Traffic Movements in January. These milestones prove the airport is becoming a key aviation hub in the region. A statement said, "The achievements also reflect the coordinated efforts of airlines, airport stakeholders, and operational teams working together to support rising traffic demand." The airport has a new development masterplan. It aims to handle 27 million passengers a year. Future upgrades include state-of-the-art terminals and advanced cargo facilities. The airport will focus on eco-friendly and sustainable infrastructure. It will use renewable energy and green building methods to become a greentech airport.
