Tension broke out in the displaced villages near Mallanna Sagar in Gajwel Municipality on Saturday. Scores of residents attacked a Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) campaign vehicle during municipal election campaigning. The protesters said, "he should not enter their colonies for campaigning." When local Congress workers came to support the protesting families, clashes broke out. Leaders from both BRS and Congress groups attacked each other with slippers amid loud slogans. Police had to step in to control the situation.
