Bangladesh Cricket Boss in Lahore for Talks on Pakistan's T20 World Cup India Boycott
February 8, 2026
Bangladesh Cricket Board president Amin ul Islam reached Lahore to discuss the standoff over Pakistan's plan to boycott its T20 World Cup match against India on February 15, 2026. Amin ul Islam met Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi, and both are expected to join a virtual meeting with the ICC to find a solution.
Mohsin Naqvi has not spoken publicly about the government’s boycott orders. However, a reliable source said the situation is changing after Sri Lanka's cricket board emailed the PCB, urging an end to the boycott. ICC CEO Sang Gupta also visited Colombo to meet Sri Lanka’s cricket president Shammi Silva, who supports playing the India match.
The ICC has asked Pakistan to explain how it can use the 'Force Majeure' clause to skip the India game after the PCB blamed its government. But now, the PCB has approached the ICC to discuss the issue seriously. An ICC Director feels the big match will happen eventually since the ICC is working closely with Pakistan to find a way forward.
Pakistan’s boycott was in support of Bangladesh, who were replaced by Scotland after refusing to travel to India citing security concerns. The ICC aims to protect the spirit of cricket, hoping unilateral actions won't stop the game.
