Eight people died in a blast at a biotechnology factory in Shanyin county, Shanxi province, China. The explosion happened early on Saturday at Jiapeng Biotechnology, a company producing bio-feed, coal products, building materials, and paint. The county government confirmed the rescue operation is finished. The company’s legal representative has been taken into police custody. Shuozhou city officials are investigating the cause. Emergency crews remained at the site on Sunday, with dark yellow smoke still rising from the wreckage, said state news agency Xinhua.
