India's Independence Day brought a splash of vibrant colours all the way to the United States! The Indian Tricolour proudly shone bright on iconic landmarks like the One World Trade Center, Grand Central Terminal, Niagara Falls, and Kosciuszko Bridge in New York. India in New York’s post on X called it "A vibrant tribute to the deep bonds of friendship between India and the United States." The celebrations officially kicked off at the Indian Embassy in the US, where Ambassador Vinay Kwatra hoisted the tricolour at India House. The embassy’s X post shared, "Celebrating the 79th Independence Day of India! Ambassador Shri Vinay Kwatra hoisted the tricolour at India House. Members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India participated in the ceremony." This showed how passionately the Indian community abroad keeps the spirit alive. Far on the West Coast, over in Seattle, the Consulate General of India hosted a grand flag-hoisting ceremony. The event was bursting with colours and sounds – featuring Bharatanatyam dance, patriotic songs, and lively performances that highlighted India's rich traditions. The Consulate's X post said, "Later today, the Indian Tricolour will be proudly hoisted atop the iconic Space Needle, the defining symbol of Seattle's skyline." Back in New York, the Indian Consulate held its own special Independence Day events. Consul General Binaya Pradhan hoisted the flag in the proud presence of elected officials, members of the Indian community, dignitaries, and friends of India. Senator Raj Mukherji also joined the celebrations. The consulate honoured outstanding Indian-Americans from sports and business, including cricket stars Jasdeep Singh and Saiteja Mukkammalla, tennis player Samir Banerjee, and entrepreneurs Hamel Kothari and Ayan Sanyal. To top it all, soulful Kuchipudi dance and classical music filled the air. Together, these dazzling celebrations from coast to coast beautifully showcased India's spirit abroad. The lit-up landmarks lit the night skies, while the vibrant cultural programs and spirited communities lit up hearts. This Independence Day was not just a festival in India, but a spectacular show of friendship, pride, and unity echoing across the United States!
