Thousands of people joined a run and cycling ride in Vijayawada on Sunday, February 8. The event was organized by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations to celebrate the birth centenary of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sk. Shereen Begum flagged off the run and ride. The event aimed to promote unity and support the Fit India Movement, said a press release. Ms. Shereen Begum said the event showed the message of unity and collective responsibility. She congratulated the participants and urged them to "uphold the values of love, compassion, and selfless service and follow the preachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba." She also praised the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations for running programs that help youth learn the value of a healthy lifestyle. Later, Ms. Shereen Begum and Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations State president R. Lakshmana Rao carried The Torch of Peace. The torch was launched by President Droupadi Murmu at Puttaparthi on November 22, 2025. Many State and district office-bearers, Sevadal volunteers, youth members, and women took part, making the event a grand celebration of unity and service.
