Bengaluru Fire Tragedy: Five Dead in Plastic Factory Blaze, Owner and Son Arrested for Safety Failures

August 17, 2025

A horrifying fire ripped through a plastic articles manufacturing unit near KR Market in Bengaluru, Karnataka, early on Saturday, August 16, 2025. The blaze started around 2:30 am on the ground floor warehouse and spread fast to the upper floors, turning the building into a fiery trap! Firefighters rushed to the scene but heartbreakingly, five people lost their lives. Among them was a whole family of four. The grim victims were Madan Singh, 38, his wife Sangeetha, 33, their two young children Mithesh (7) and Vihaan (5), and their neighbour Suresh Kumar, 26. Madan Singh, originally from Rajasthan, had been renting the building for nearly 10 years. He ran a small factory making plastic kitchen items, mats, and steel utensils and lived on the top floor. Police launched an investigation and quickly arrested the building owner Balakrishnayya Shetty and his son Sandeep Shetty. They face charges of unauthorized construction and serious negligence in fire safety. The police stated these lapses helped the fire spread rapidly. Many inside escaped just in time, but sadly the family was trapped inside. Halasuru Gate Police have taken the father and son into custody for questioning. The tragedy has raised alarms about fire safety rules in industrial buildings. This disaster serves as a warning: following safety measures is not optional, it can be lifesaving! Authorities continue to probe the incident and seek justice for the victims.
