Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched its services on ChatGPT. This is the first time a government or utility has joined the ChatGPT Apps Directory worldwide. Residents can now ask ChatGPT about their electricity and water bills, account details, EV Green Charger station locations, and Customer Happiness Centre information. The AI lets users get billing support and find the nearest charging point through a simple chat. DEWA will add more options soon, ensuring security and privacy. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA's managing director and CEO, said this move is part of a "broader shift in how people interact with public services." He explained the “AI Integration and Operating Services” initiative moves government service delivery away from old digital ways to AI platforms. Al Tayer added, "integrating DEWA’s services with ChatGPT allows customers to engage through natural conversational interfaces and intelligent multi-agent systems." He also said the project supports Dubai’s goal to be a global leader in artificial intelligence and sustainable innovation. DEWA aims to be the world’s first AI-native utility, responding to more people using AI to get services. The UAE is seeing fast AI growth. OpenAI said its UAE user base tripled last year. About 60% of 18-24-year-olds and half of 25-34-year-olds use ChatGPT weekly in the country.
