February 8, 2026
England held on to beat Nepal by four runs in a thrilling T20 World Cup match in Mumbai on Sunday. Nepal needed six runs off the last ball to win, bowled by Sam Curran. Lokesh Bam hit the ball to deep cover and ran a single, falling just short of a historic upset.
Chasing 185, Nepal played boldly. Lokesh Bam remained unbeaten on 39 runs off 18 balls, smashing three sixes in the final over. Earlier, Kushal Bhurtel scored 29 quickly, but was caught and bowled by Will Jacks. Captain Rohit Paudel and Dipendra Singh Airee added 82 runs together before wickets slowed Nepal's momentum.
England's batsmen Jacob Bethell (55) and Harry Brook (53) scored fast fifties. Will Jacks' late surge with three sixes helped England reach 184 for 7. Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid were taken on heavily early but returned to bowl crucial overs.
Archer conceded 42 runs in his 4 overs but took an important wicket. Dipendra Singh Airee hit 44 runs with two towering sixes. Liam Dawson bowled well, finishing with 2 wickets for 21 runs.
Nepal fought hard in front of a lively crowd at Wankhede Stadium but fell just 4 runs short at 180 for 6. The match was one of the closest T20 World Cup games, with England narrowly avoiding one of cricket's biggest shocks.
