Cyberabad Police Tighten Security to Stop Drag Racing and Stunts in Hi-Tec City
February 8, 2026
Cyberabad police have stepped up security in Hi-Tec City to stop dangerous drag races, bike stunts, and dance events on busy roads. The areas around Café Niloufer and T-Hub in Knowledge City are hotspots for late-night reckless driving and stunts. Police said the rising 'reel culture' pushes some youngsters to use these roads as unofficial racing and performance zones, endangering commuters and locals. A special enforcement drive runs from Friday to Sunday, with ongoing surveillance on weekdays to keep these activities in check.
So far, police have seized 60 bikes, five cameras, and a drone. Four cases have been registered against those performing dangerous stunts. Raidurgam Inspector Ch. Venkanna said participants in dance performances were counselled, and some parents were also spoken to when minors were involved.
Concerns grew after videos showed crowds gathering outside Gowra Palladium, with young people performing to loud music and bike and auto stunts on nearby roads. These acts disrupted traffic and threatened public safety.
Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh told The Hindu that the incidents show a need among local youth for safe social spaces. He suggested the government create designated public squares for regulated cultural activities.
He said, "The demand is clearly there, and we have not objected to youth gathering for skits or performances. What is not acceptable are prohibited activities that disturb peace or endanger lives. Creative expression will not be discouraged, but activities staged solely to create social media content at the cost of public safety will not be tolerated. Strict action is being taken to ensure such incidents do not recur."
Following viral videos last weekend, police deployed at least 30 personnel to the area and increased monitoring to stop unlawful behavior.
